Land Between the Lakes

A Red-Tailed Hawk taking to the sky on a clear day.

The last place I stopped at on the trip was the land between the lakes. It's a stretch of land between two narrow lakes in the western part of Kentucky that hasn't changed much it seems since the 70's. That aside, I really did enjoy it there for the short time I was able to stay. There is no internet connection to speak of (if you can get online it's going to be slow) and this helps to disconnect from the rest of the world.

A rattlesnake curled up in its glass tank.

The reason I went here is for seeing the wildlife that the park had promised. The park has buffalo and elk in an are that you can drive around. They also have many species of birds with Eagles, Hawks, and owls easily spotted on hikes and from the car with a keen eye. There are plenty of Osprey's out there to see!

I enjoyed stopping at the wildlife center out there where they have several species for the public to view for a small fee. Inside there are several snakes with some being very active and will show off for you behind the glass!

Outside is where most of te creatures are. There are deer, birds, cats, wolves, turtles, and more that I am blanking on. I really need to write these things sooner after doing them and I promise to from here on out!

An owl caught staring right at me while I was walking around the park.

A bit of a short post this week because finals are taking over my life right now, but I should have more in the next few weeks to write about!
