I like to think the photography community is a positive one. It is filled with great people that are very passionate about art, helping others, and helping to expand it to more and more people. However, no matter how many good photographers there are that are out there, a few bad apples spoil the barrel.

There are plenty of reasons to constantly chase new locations and images, but when I have gone on trips for this purpose many of the images I came home with lacked something in them.

There is a concerning part though in how some are making their own way or rather bringing others down to elevate themselves.

I have become more picky with what I shoot and what I consider a portfolio worthy image, so hopefully this will be a marker of that progression! Going to the woods is going home, for I suppose we came from the woods originally. But in some of nature's forests, the adventurous traveler seems a feeble, unwelcome creature; wild beasts and the weather trying to kill him, the rank, tangled vegetation, armed with spears and stinging needles, barring his way and making life a hard struggle.
I’m not the only one that thinks this, summer is the most challenging time of year to shoot. I often find a drought of images through the middle part of the year. July through September specifically are the biggest issues, even though this is the time of year many are getting outside on vacation.
